Do your trips/tours include airfare?
ACR Tours only covers in country reservations and ground transportation. We do arrange in country flights. You can obtain free quotes for airfare by clicking here.
Is it safe to drink the water in Costa Rica?
Absolutey, tap water is safe. Just like anywhere else you do not want to drink the water from creeks or rivers; Bottled water is sold throughout this beautiful country.
What is the weather like in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has primarily 2 seasons:
- The Dry Season:
- The Dry season is from mid December through mid June. December is a little cooler but you can count on the days being the same thoughout the rest of this season.
- The Wet Season:
- The Wet season is from late June through mid December with the heaviest rain from mid October through mid November on the Central and Pacific side.
Do I need a passport?
Yes, travel to Costa Rica requires a passport, valid for six months after your departure. It is your responsibility to travel with a current passport and obtain a visa if required.
How far in advance should I book my tour?
We recommend booking your tour six weeks to three months in advance, especially for the high season, December through June, and there is a peak in July as well. The country does not have a huge amount of rooms yet its’ popularity continues to outpace its’ infrastructure. Certain hotels are booked years in advance.
When and how do I pay ACR Tours for the travel packages?
ACR Tours needs a 50% deposit six weeks before the tour, and the remaining balance three weeks before your departure date. You can pay ACR Tours by check, money order, cashiers check, credit card or direct deposit. We accept credit card payments via Pay Pal. Large group size requires full payment six weeks before arrival.
What are the medical services like?
Costa Rica has excellent medical services. Among the best in Latin America. There are several private clinics, and the social security clinics and hospitals are also equipped to handle emergencies of any type.
Can I keep in touch back home through e-mail/internet access?
Yes, most hotels provide this service and there are internet cafe’s for your connections. You may also rent a cell phone if desired.
Are there ATM’s available to withdraw cash?
Yes, in most cities throughout Costa Rica there are ATM’s available to make cash advances.
Is there laundry service available?
Yes, most hotels do offer laundry service for a fee, and in some towns there are laundromats available.
It is best to use $50.00, $20.00, $10.00, $5.00 and some $1.00 dollar bills. $100.00 bills are not recommended, as most places will not accept them
I have a tour scheduled, how do I get there?
Actually, you will be picked up at your hotel for your tour. The pick up time will be stated on your voucher
Are credit cards accepted where I will be going?
Yes, the two major credit cards accepted are MasterCard and Visa. You may also use your ATM debit card for purchases, but check with your bank as they may charge a fee.
What do I need before leaving to Costa Rica?
Now that your tour is completed and everything is in order, we would like to make a few recommendations before leaving.
We would like to suggest packing the following items.
- Closed walking shoes
- insect repellent
If you are a non US Citizen, please check for visa requirements before your departure dates.
You must have a passport with an expiration date no sooner than six months of your travel date.
Once payment has been received and processed, you will receive travel vouchers via e-mail within ten working days.
These vouchers will ensure that your services are paid for and confirmed. Phone number and pick up times will be noted on these vouchers.
